Amelia Island Charter Captain Brian Soucy
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - What You Want in a Captain!
Amelia Island Charter Captain – Brian Soucy
My journey to becoming an Amelia Island Charter Captain began many years ago.
I grew up most of my life living overseas being the son of a career Air Force father. I lived in the Philippines, Portugal, England and returned to the states in my early teen years.
One of my first memories of fishing is with my grandfather on one of the lakes at a summer camp where he worked catching bluegills. My brothers and I fished from the shore in and around local ponds and lakes.
Upon graduation from high school I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. One of the many places I was stationed was in North Carolina. This is where I learned to hunt and fish. I caught my first Redfish on an ultra-light rod and a plastic bobber with a night crawler for bait and I was hooked for life. From then on, I learned everything I could on catching saltwater fish.
In later years I saved enough money to buy my first boat. It was not pretty but it did the job. In a few more years I was able to get a newer boat which looked and ran a lot better then the first.
I moved to Fernandina Beach when I retired from the Marine Corps after serving twenty-two years in 2003. I met my great friend Larry and he really taught me a lot about the area. I started fishing the Redfish tournaments in the local the area.
The more I fished the more I learned from other fisherman. I started fishing different tournament series and fishing in other states, South Carolina, Georgia, Louisiana and back in North Carolina. I really enjoyed the competition and learning new areas to fish.
I got my Captain’s license in 2005 and started to get my business together. I really enjoy sharing my knowledge about the area and teaching people about the tackle used and the art of catching fish.
My inshore charter fishing boat is a 2021 Sportsman Tournament 234 equipped with a Yamaha 250HP 4-stroke. This boat also has a 36-volt Minn Kota Terrova trolling motor, two 10 foot Power Poles, Garmen electronics.
It also has a large K2 cooler and a T top for the hot summer months. The boat is also equipped with a BMS jack plate and Lenco trim tabs.
My goal is to ensure everyone has a great experience on the water. I will work hard to make your trip memorable one.
