Located on the northeastern coast of Florida, Fernandina Beach offers some excellent fishing opportunities during this time of year.
With the water temperatures in the lower 60’s and the water a little more clear the fish tend to school up during this time.
When it comes to the types of fish that can be caught this time of year, the most popular species include speckled trout, redfish, sheepshead and some black drum. We also are getting catches of great eating whiting.
One of the ways we catch these fish is to drift a live shrimp with a float over structure such as rocks, oyster bars and such. Another great tactic is to drift the bait around and near docks. These docks provide a lot of cover for these fish. At times we will also use a Carolina rig or a jig head to fish on the bottom.
The area of Fernandina Beach offers great beaches and restaurants and awesome live music venues. The Salty Pelican, located just steps from the dock, will cook your catch. If you want to come to a fantastic part of Florida and enjoy some fishing, give Semper Fi Charters a call. I will do my best to show you a great time on the water.
